Aim: Supports the foundations of care by providing participates with an awareness of Positive Approaches to Care (PAC) skills to improve everyday care for people. PAC was developed to support people living with a dementia by equipping both the formal and informal carers with specific skills aimed at understanding what it is like to have dementia. It is a strengths-based approach focusing on abilities and skills that remain for an individual rather than deficits. PAC illustrates these remaining skills and abilities by classifying these into six precious GEMs. PAC explains changes in the brain to why people may behave in a certain way.
