Compassionate Mental Health – Light the Lamps

23 October 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 26 October 2023 @ 3:30 pm

Coed Hills, CF71 7DP

Our series of experiential learning retreats continue to inform, inspire and empower people living and working with mental distress.

We bring together people and families with personal experience, frontline staff, commissioners, managers, clinicians, GPs, policymakers and Third Sector staff, to explore a relational and regenerative approach to mental health care.

We explore a range of questions such as:

– What are the ingredients of safe, compassionate care? And what are the barriers to implementing it?

– What is relational practice, and why is it so important?

– How can we bring reflective practice and dialogical leadership into mental health services, in order to boost the wellbeing of staff?

– How can we imagine environments that help people feel safe, able to rest, learn and heal?

– What helps down-escalate distress without resorting to restraint, seclusion and sedation?

– What does a therapeutic community approach entail? How can we bring that into current services, and develop alternative settings?

We will be returning to the very nourishing setting of Coed Hills in the Vale of Glamorgan – a living low impact community. This is a chance to have genuine encounters with others interested in compassionate approaches – imagine together future fit mental health services, and learn new ways to look after ourselves and others so we can all thrive.

The website and programme will be updated soon, but you can secure your place now for limited onsite accommodation.
