How to find talking therapy or counselling in Powys
There are various routes to finding a counsellor or therapist in Powys.
NHS counselling
The Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 makes provision for counselling services via your local GP surgery. “The Measure will make sure that more services are available for your GP to refer you to if you have mental health problems such as anxiety or depression. These services, which may include for example counselling, stress and anxiety management, will either be at your GP practice or nearby so it will be easier to get to them.”

Counselling from the voluntary sector
Several of the mental health charities in Powys provide counselling sessions free of charge by appointment. These sessions may be provided by trainee counsellors. Contact your local mental health charity to find out more.

U&I Counselling in Oswestry, also a voluntary organisation, provides a donation-paid-for counselling service, with a suggested minimum donation of £3 per session. Whilst based in England, they will take referrals, including self-referrals, from Powys. You can ring the organisation on 07530 448 000 or download a flyer here.
